Wheelin' Jazz Survive OT Scare 55-51

The Wheelin' Jazz defeated the #7 LA Fast Breakin Lakers for the second time in two weeks. The Wheelin' Jazz seemed to be in control from the start leading by as many as 13 points in the second half before the Lakers started chipping away at the lead, tying the game at 49 as regulation ended. The Lakers were playing in their second OT game of the day falling earlier to Golden State in 2OT 71-70.

What looked to be another big win soon turned into a barn burner as the Lakers used a very tight man to man defense to hinder Wheelin' Jazz star Jeff Griffin. While Griffin didn't score a lot of points, his rebounds, steals, and assists were key to the victory. Mike Schlappi and Layne Mangum led the way scoring 16 and 14 points followed by Jason Hokanson with 10. The Lakers were led by their stars, Edward Perdano and Willie Ariaga with 16 and 15 apiece.

Sunday the Wheelin' Jazz will face the #4 Golden State Warriors in the championship game. The Warriors handed the Wheelin' Jazz one of their two defeats this season.
