The Golden State Road Warriors used a balanced scoring attack to beat the Wheelin' Jazz in the championship game of the 10th Annual Basketball Roundup in Phoenix, Arizona. The Warriors had four players in double figures in winning the game 66-53.
The Wheelin' Jazz jumped out early leading by as many as 8 in the first half. The offense seemed to go cold at that point and the Warriors took advantage. The warriors led 39-25 at the half. The Wheelin' Jazz tightened up the defense in the second half but the deficit was just too much for a comeback.
The Wheelin' Jazz were led in scoring by Jeff Griffin with 23, Mike Schlappi and Layne Mangum added 11 and 10, and Rod Niemann scored 6. The Warriors had 4 players in double figures; Trooper Johnson, Chuck Gill, Peter Sanchez, and Marcus Oden with 19, 17, 13, and 11 respectively.
